Did you know Alfred Hitchcock had a home in Scotts Valley? Yes! This world-famous director lived in Scotts Valley from 1940-1970. Many of his creations were filmed on the Northern California Coast, including Vertigo, based in San Francisco and San Juan Bautista. The Birds, inspired by an actual event in Capitola, was filmed in Bodega Bay.

Alfred Hitchcock is best known as the master of suspense. He blends suspense with humor, sexual attraction, and voyeurism while utilizing a variety of motifs and devices, such as the MacGuffin, to fuel his complex and engaging plots. His career is often divided into four periods: the silent period, the British period, the Hollywood era of the 1940s, and his most artistically successful period which took place during the 1950s and early 1960s.

The Scotts Valley Community Theater Guild is excited to announce that the fourth Annual Alfred Hitchcock Festival will be held on the weekend nearest to National Hitchcock Day, which is celebrated on March 12. This year’s Festival, held from March 6th through 8th, provides a wonderful chance to celebrate the life, times, and work of this local resident, a world-renowned filmmaker. A glossy, 4-color 4th Annual Alfred Hitchcock Festival Souvenir Program will be created. It will feature local businesses and interested community sponsors. The event will be promoted locally, nationally, and internationally. Your participation in this event will be most appreciated.  All participants will be represented on The Alfred Hitchcock Festival website for the year, as well as be presented in the program.
